Occasionally branded as undesireable packaging because it can be sent to landfill, but did you know it is 100% recyclable.
When we manufacture your Polystyrene Protective Packaging we produce zero waste. We buy Polystyrene in Block form and then cut, shape, glue to make something lightweight and effective to protect your product as it makes it's way through the supply chain.
In the cutting/shaping process, there are inevitably offcuts which we can't re-use for enduser protective packaging. But that doesn't mean these parts go to waste.
These offcuts have three future uses
- sold to a customer to regrind to use as part of their product
- slice down to create loosefill.
- return to the block manufacturer to regrind and put back into Block form
The third use also helps our supplier to hit our target of using material with a minimum of 30% recycled content.
So all in all not the evil material everyone thinks it is. Get in touch and we can help you find your nearest polystyrene recycing point. Or if you are one of our customers, feel free to return any end of life polystyrene to us and we will make sure it doesn't end up in landfill.
